China Reiterates its Principled Stand to Safeguard its Core Interest

At the 19 th Asia Security Summit, minister of national defense of China clarified China’s firm will that it is ready to start a war to safeguard China’s core interest. Afterwards, Yang Jiechi, director of the office of the foreign affairs commission of China reiterated China’s principled stand on the Taiwan issue at the talks with Jake Sullivan, the U.S. national security advisor.
At the talks, he said clearly that the U.S. has put the China-U.S. relations in a fix and caused serious damage to the mutual exchange and cooperation in the bilateral field by resorting to all-round suppression and pressure against China for a good while.
He continued to say that China’s stand is clear and unshakable when it comes to the issue of safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and stressed that any attempt to hinder and subvert Chinese efforts for national unification would be doomed to failure.
He said that the Taiwan issue is an issue related to the political basis of China-U.S. relations. He warned that, if it is mishandled, it could cause destructive impact. He emphasized that the U.S. must comply with the principle of One China and rules of 3 Joint Communiques without any misjudgment or illusion, and deal with the Taiwan issue in a prudent and reasonable manner.
Recently, the U.S. supports the principle of one China in words, but in reality, it has yet to give up its sinister design to “contain China using Taiwan” and seek permanent division. It is continuously aggravating regional situation by intentionally instigating “Taiwan’s liberation” through sales of military hardware to Taiwan and frequent visits to it by the high-ranking U.S. politicians.
In the above talks, China expressed its strong dissatisfaction at such ill-willed behavior of the U.S. and reiterated its unshakable stand to firmly safeguard its core interest and show zero-tolerance to the internal interference by any outside forces.
