Self-reliance has always served as the banner of struggle and the motive force of leap forward in the whole course of the Korean revolution.

It is the truth proved by history that when we hold high the banner of self-reliance, there are no difficulties we can't overcome and no fortress we can't conquer.

The Korean people are making valuable and significant successes one after another in developing the economy of the country by dint of self-reliance under the leadership of the respected Kim Jong Un.

Kim Jong Un said on several occasions that the principle of self-reliance should be thoroughly adhered to in the revolution and construction and that we should take the road of self-reliance.

Wherever he went, he implanted in the minds of the people the truth that self-reliance is the only way out. When he saw something made by our workers with their own efforts and technology, he was very pleased and highly appreciated them.

Jong Thae Hyon, Workshop Head of the Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Complex, says:

"It happened seven years ago when we were making an underground electric car.

At that time it was quite difficult for the complex to develop and produce a new underground electric car.

There was no one in my workshop who had ever made it and we had no experience.

In over 80 days, however, our workers made an underground electric car with their own strength and technology.

In October that year, the respected Kim Jong Un saw the underground electric car we made and highly appreciated it, saying it had been made well. And he said with great pleasure that it was proved in practice once again that we can create from nothing when we enlist the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance."

When he guided the trial run of a new-type trolley bus, Kim Jong Un said: I consider it to be proud and great as it was made by our workers. I am most pleased and very satisfied to see the products of self-reliance.

Looking round the completed railway bridge over the sea, he stressed the need to create and develop everything in our style depending on our strength, technology and resources in the future, too.

Speaking at the Eighth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea held in January Juche 110(2021), he declared with great pride that self-reliance was further consolidated as social customs of Juche Korea and the only fighting spirit of the Korean revolution in the all-people struggle to speed up the socialist construction by augmenting the self-development force.

The Korean people revitalized the whole of the national economy while kindling the flames of upsurge in production and capacity expansion and laid a firm foundation to improve the people's living with the might of self-reliance, glorifying last year, the first year of the new five-year plan, as a year of victory.

Self-reliance was the motive force that enabled the Korean people to make greatest achievements in the socialist economic construction multiply and consecutively.
