According to information available, a total of more than 3 069 000 people from all walks of life, including working people, service personnel and youth and students, have visited the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum in the last nine years since July 2013.
The museum is a treasure trove of information about the immortal war victory exploits of President Kim Il Sung and the revolutionary exploits of Chairman Kim Jong Il, a hall of victory to hand down the facts about the heroic struggle and feats of the victorious wartime generation, and a hub of education in the traditions of victory and a main base for education in anti-imperialism and class consciousness to instil indomitable will in the Korean people including service personnel.
The museum was facelifted on the picturesque banks of the Pothong River on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of victory in the Fatherland Liberation War. Covering a total area of 93 000 square metres, it consists of the main building, the Taejon Hall, outdoor exhibition grounds and a ground for education.
The main building is composed of several halls including those dedicated to the anti-Japanese armed struggle, the building of the regular armed forces, military operations, the political work of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the Chinese People’s Volunteers. There is the hall of heroes in an overhead passage linking the main building and the Taejon Hall.
The outdoor exhibition grounds include the one displaying weapons associated with the great leaders’ guidance and feats of service personnel.
