Acquainting himself in detail with the weather observation of the State Hydro-Meteorological Administration, he said it is very important to thoroughly ensure the accuracy and promptness of the weather forecast in guaranteeing the successful implementation of the state policy tasks for the latter half of the year including the grain production plan for this year decided by the Fifth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Party Central Committee.

He stressed the need to put the prediction and analysis of the change of weather and its influence on a highly scientific basis now that the weather conditions change every year and thus make an active contribution to minimizing the damages by disastrous meteorological phenomena including typhoon and heavy rain.

At the DPRK State Emergency Disaster Committee Kim Tok Hun said all the sectors and units involved in the work for prevention of damage in the rainy season should regard it as the core problem to defend the lives and security of the people, quickly cope with the emergency and properly organize the work to protect the state property and normalize the economic activities.

He also underscored the need to establish well-organized work system and order to control all sorts of crises in a stable way under the unified command of the state and powerfully promote the work to secure enough means and materials needed for coping with the crises.

The consultative meetings held on the spot discussed issues on strengthening cooperation between the weather observation and agriculture, on enhancing the responsibility and operation-commanding ability of the officials in charge of the prevention of disasters and on further perfecting the flood control information system before taking relevant measures.
