Unchangeable Call

"Mom, someone in Pyongyang wants you on the phone."

An old woman Choe Kyu Sun, who lives in Sangbukdong-ri, Mundok County, joyfully received the phone handed over by her son. The caller is Kim Yong Sil who is Choe’s disciple residing in Janggyong-dong No.2, Sosong District.

Kim said to Choe that she phoned at the memory of her school days after seeing the name of her old school awarded the Title of Socialist Patriotic Forest through the day’s newspaper and added that she could not forget the then teacher’s figure until now who instilled the patriotism into students while planting trees around the school together.

At the moment Choe was very impressed by her words.

Even in those days of military service Kim used to bring the news of her to Choe, not forgetting the old teacher of the middle school days.

Though many years have passed, Choe was moved to tears while thinking sincerity of Kim that has always sent congratulatory greetings to her on March 8 International Women’s Day and other holidays calling her teacher as before.

It is said that in general the flow of the times bury everything in oblivion, but clearly engraved on Kim’s mind is the figure of teacher yesterdays. It cannot be explained only with obligation between master and disciple.

Herein lies beautiful figures of our socialist country where the traits of respecting the forerunners of the revolution, teachers and seniors, loving comrades and promoting harmony of families and collective are national customs.

Warm Sincerity

The night was wearing on quietly, but a light was seen at the window of Hwang Su Hyang’s house situated in Rakwon-dong, Pothonggang District.

Because she thought how could she give a pleasure to a war veteran marking her holiday.

The memory of past days when she has lived forming a connection with the war veteran An Chun Yong in Puksae-dong, Moranbong District, rose before Hwang’s mind who was preparing the souvenirs for the veteran.

It was one July day nine years ago when Hwang knew An for the first time.

Through An’s priceless reminiscences, Hwang keenly felt how these happy days led by her were provided and she hardened the will to take good care of war veterans who are put forward by the Party.

Since then, Hwang frequently dropped in at the veteran’s home to ask about An’s health and her living condition.

In those days, Hwang’s ideological and spiritual world grew beyond recognition.

It was when she had done good things for the society and collective. Her comrades, relatives and friends admired that it was not easy. Even at that time, she firstly visited the veteran’s house and said:

"Grandmother, you are the grateful teacher to make me do good things like this."

Reflected in these words is her sincerity to devote all to the country’s wealth and prosperity regarding the life of wartime generation as a model.
