All rural areas in the DPRK are waging an intensive campaign to protect crops from damage by flood, heavy rain and fierce gales.
Officials of the Agricultural Commission and all provincial rural economy committees went out to fields before the beginning of the rainy season to learn about zones highly prone to damage without exception and solve relevant problems in time.
As there falls much rain along with downpour, agricultural workers of Anak, Unchon, Jaeryong, Unnyul and other counties in South Hwanghae Province, the largest agricultural province and major granary of the country, frequently inquire about the conditions of pumps, maintain and repair them in a responsible manner, ensure power supply by dint of a dual power system and push ahead with the repair of ridges between paddy fields, the clearing out of waterways and the digging of drainage channels in a qualitative way so as to minimize the damage from heavy rain.
North Hwanghae and North Phyongan provinces take thorough measures to prevent flood damage by means of ditching, drainage from flooded paddies and scientific manuring and cultivation.
Kangwon Province finds out dangerous spots, including those of coastal dykes, without omission to correct them and pushes the improvement of drainage channels and medium-sized and small rivers simultaneously.
