July 1 is the 25 th anniversary of the reversion of Hong Kong to the PRC.

On this occasion, Xi Jinping, President of China visited Hong Kong to deliver an important speech at the 6 th government inauguration of Hong Kong Special Administration Region, the celebration meeting of the 25 th anniversary of the reversion of Hong Kong.

In the speech, he said that during the last 25 years, the policy of “one country, two systems” has achieved the world-recognized successes in Hong Kong thanks to the full support of the country and the concerted efforts of the government of Hong Kong Special Administration Region and every circle of society. He continued to stress as follows: “One country, two systems” was repeatedly verified in practice. It serves the basic interests of the state and nation as well as the basic interests of Hong Kong and Macao. Thus, there is no reason to transform such an excellent system and it should be maintained for a long period without fail.

While China was seething with an atmosphere of celebrating the 25 th anniversary of the reversion of Hong Kong, the U.S. and some Western countries staged farce of issuing statements that criticize the Chinese policy of “one country, two systems”. And they are talking loudly that freedom and rights of the people of Hong Kong and the sustainable development and prosperity of Hong Kong are under serious threats.

With regard to the fact that the U.S. and the West criticized the policy of “one country, two systems” and interfered in Hong Kong issue, the internal affairs of China, the spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry emphasized as follows:

These countries are always talking about democracy and human rights, but they are rather looking away from the serious problems and dirty traces existing in their own countries. Any intervention of the foreign forces in the internal affairs of China will be doomed to failure.

In recent years, the U.S. and the West have persistently instigated “Hong Kong independence”, while picking on and speaking ill of each and every policy and measure of the Chinese Party and government for the long-term stability and development of Hong Kong.

The sinister intention of the U.S. and its following forces is to cause a disturbance within Hong Kong by criticizing democracy, freedom and human rights issue of Hong Kong. And further, with this as a stepping-stone, it is to disintegrate China which is gaining in strength day after day.

In those 25 years since its reversion, Hong Kong achieved great successes in all fields of ensuring political stability and developing the economy under the policy of “one country, two systems” of the Chinese government as well as the support and encouragement from the government and different strata of Hong Kong.

Hong Kong issue thoroughly pertains to the internal affairs of China. No country or force has a right to find fault with it.

The U.S. and the West are engrossed in infringing the sovereignty of China and interfering in its internal affairs under the pretext of Hong Kong issue. This will be doomed to failure. And Hong Kong will continue to achieve development and prosperity under the policy of “one country, two systems” and the ideal of “management of Hong Kong by patriots” of the Chinese government.
