The Russian President, at the recent forum on “important ideas for the new era” hosted by the agency of strategic initiatives, stated his opinion on sovereignty.
He said sovereignty means freedom of national and human development whose key element is the civil society prioritizing and valuing one’s own nation.
He went on to say that only truly independent countries can be an example to other countries in terms of adhering to the traditional human-centered values, highly humanitarian ideals and the way of development; and stressed that the new era, the new stage of world history is now emerging, however hard the West tries to preserve the status quo.
Prior to this, the Russian foreign minister also noted in his article contributed to the newspaper "Izvestia" that the Western countries had better immediately recognize the inevitability of the formation of multipolar world based on independence and equality, or if they lack such willingness, they’d rather have to stop exercising arbitrary power and respect the choices of independent countries, and that such constitutes actual democracy.
It is not without reason that the Russian president and foreign minister advocated the need to put an end to the unipolar world order as soon as possible and construct a world in which all countries live together without discrimination.
It can be said that this reflects the will not to tolerate the moves of the Western bloc that mercilessly tramples upon even the right to development and existence of other countries and nations in utter disregard of their security and interests, when it comes to the realization of its own selfish purposes.
Russia had no choice but to carry out a military operation against Ukraine. This is totally attributable to the NATO’s tightened encirclement ring around Russia by its continuous eastward expansion and its forward deployment of military infrastructures in the areas near to the borders with Russia, which presents a serious security threat.
The current Ukrainian situation clearly shows that the regime that turns its back on its own people and fellow countrymen while kowtowing to the foreign forces is doomed to a miserable fate, and mankind can never free themselves from misfortunes and sufferings as long as there exists on earth imperialism with inherent nature of aggression and domination.
The West may desperately try to maintain the West-led world order, but it has no way of checking the growing international trend towards independent development.
