The Japanese imperialists made Korea their colony in 1905.
Born in the period of national distress, the great leader Kim Il Sung set out on the road of struggle for independence of Korea in his teens.
He formed the Down-with-Imperialism Union in October Juche 15(1926) and declared a decisive struggle against Japanese imperialism.
At the Kalun Meeting held in June Juche 19(1930), he made clear that the all-people anti-Japanese war through an armed struggle was the only way to save Korea and win back the dignity of the nation.
He believed in the united strength of the entire Korean people.

At the Mingyuegou Meeting held in December 1931 he stressed that guerrilla warfare should be the main form of struggle under the conditions of Korea where regular warfare is impossible.

Kim Il Sung officially proclaimed a war for annihilating the Japanese imperialists under the slogan 'Oppose arms with arms, and resist counterrevolutionary violence with revolutionary violence!'."
Kim Il Sung founded the Korean People's Revolutionary Army, the first revolutionary armed force of Juche type which could fight decisive battles against the aggressive forces of the Japanese imperialists, on April 25, Juche 21(1932).
From that time, the anti-Japanese national liberation movement of Korea could vigorously advance at a new high stage with the armed struggle as the mainstream.
