Thirty years ago, the Jangsu Koryo Medicine Pharmaceutical Factory in Pothonggang District, Pyongyang, was just a herb medicine processing manufactory, which produced decoctions, pills and powdered medicines
Now it is equipped with modern facilities, and has developed into a renowned factory which mass-produces different Koryo medicines badly needed for the people’s longevity and health.
It is producing 40-odd Koryo medicines including Insam pills for heart protection, ephedra coated tablets against asthma, ginkgo biloba leaf tablets against arteriosclerosis, Salvia miltiorrhiza and Cnidium officinale drop pills against cardiopathy, peach leaf cardiotonic tablets, leech injection against thrombosis and others.
These medicines, whose main raw materials are abundant in the country, are popular among the users as they suit the Koreans’ constitutional characteristics and have high treatment efficacy.
The factory also produces Amur Cork Chongsim Pills for the treatment and prevention of hypertension, arteriosclerosis and cardiac neuralgia, Immunoton Injection for the treatment and prevention of cancer, thrombocytopenic purpura and chronic pancreatitis, and Silyamuren Dragees for Liver Protection for the treatment of acute and chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis. All of them are the main items of its products.
The medicines of the factory have won prizes several times at the spring and autumn international trade fairs in the past, and were awarded February 2 Quality Medal.
Choe Chol Jun, general manager of the factory, said, “It is a primary requirement of humans to live long life in good health. We will develop and produce many more Koryo medicines which satisfy their requirement.”
