Rodong Sinmun Calls for Modernizing Local Industrial Establishments across Country

Pyongyang, August 4 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Thursday in an editorial says that the local industrial establishments in Kimhwa County of Kangwon Province are a model and criterion to be set by the whole country as a standard.
All cities and counties should dynamically accelerate the comprehensive development of socialist construction by modernizing local industrial establishments with Kimhwa County as a model, the editorial says, and goes on:
To put local industrial establishments across the country on a modern basis with Kimhwa County as a model is a prerequisite for bringing about a decisive turn in the production of consumer goods.
It is necessary for the local industrial establishments, which play an important role in the production of consumer goods, to modernize their production facilities and processes in order to keep production going at a high rate while consistently holding fast to the principle of giving priority to quality over quantity. Only when they are updated on a high level, they can optimize all processes from the sketch and design of goods to their production in line with sci-tech requirements, setting the people's demand as a standard, and produce goods favored by the people.
The modernization of local industrial establishments is not merely a practical work to replace old and outdated production facilities with new ones and reinforce irrational production processes. In the course of modernizing their factories, the masses conceive a new thing and make an innovative achievement and prepare themselves to be talents possessed of advanced sci-tech knowledge and high skills. This was proved by the course of putting the local industrial establishments in Kimhwa County on a modern basis.
When cities and counties conduct the work to develop the local industry in a revolutionary way on the basis of the successes and experience made in Kimhwa County, they can increase the ranks of sci-tech forces, technicians and skilled workers of the local industrial establishments and turn out quality consumer goods in reliance on them.
