Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Hwan, chief secretary of the Pyongyang City Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea who doubles as commander of the Pyongyang City emergency anti-epidemic division, made a speech at the national meeting of reviewing the emergency anti-epidemic work.

He said that the reality, in which the sudden health crisis created in the country was defused in less than three months, would have been unthinkable without the wise leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who devotedly defended the safety of the country and wellbeing of the people in the van of the anti-epidemic campaign.

He referred to the fact that Kim Jong Un convened meetings of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee one after another despite evening and dawn, worrying about the life and safety of the people, took measures to lock down every region of the capital city and block every unit by switching the state anti-epidemic work over to the maximum emergency anti-epidemic system, established the regular counter-crisis system and order and gave detailed instructions even on the supply of medicines and treatment methods and measures for ensuring the people's living.

He stressed that the General Secretary's love served as tonics for overcoming the health crisis and as a source of turning the whole country into a large flower garden of loyalty and virtues.

He recalled that under the wise guidance of the General Secretary, thousands of blockade posts were established in a few days to thoroughly ensure the regional lockdown and inter-unit isolation, more than 23 000 medical workers and students of medical universities and even those with career as a medical worker had turned out as one in the anti-epidemic campaign and the intensive medical examination and checkup had been conducted every day to quarantine and treat fevered persons.

The inhabitants in the capital city would say that wherever a disaster happens, immorality and corruption and jungle law get rampant and sigh of misfortune and despair are heard, but the Pyongyangites have grown stronger and more harmonious while overcoming the health crisis, more loudly praising the General Secretary and the WPK and Korean-style socialism, the speaker said, adding:

During the maximum emergency anti-epidemic system, the citizens in the capital city suffered from temporary hardship in their living, but they came to cherish the stronger faith that they will have nothing to fear even though they face any ordeal and trial and they will surely win victory as they are led by the General Secretary.

The speaker pledged to further cement the anti-epidemic barrier in the capital city by intensifying the anti-epidemic campaign to make the officials, Party members and working people thoroughly be on their guard against laxity and carelessness and strictly and voluntarily observe the anti-epidemic disciplines and order until the total end of the global pandemic.
