China Takes Back-To-Back Military Measures in Response to U.S. House Speaker’s Trip to Taiwan

China takes back-to-back military measures in response to the U.S. House Speaker Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan on August 2~3 in defiance of strong opposition and stern warning of China.
According to news reports, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (CPLA) dispatched a fighter to the Taiwan Strait timing with Pelosi’s Taiwan trip. And the Eastern Battle Zone of CPLA has commenced a real war combined exercise in the waters and the skies surrounding the Taiwan island from the night on August 2.
On August 4~7, in particular, they mobilized a dozen or so warships and more than a hundred fighters of various kinds in six places of waters and skies near the Taiwan island to conduct real war combined military exercise of navy, air and rocket forces of the Eastern Battle Zone and long-range fire-ball exercise of the army, and the ballistic missiles of CPLA flew above the Taiwan island for the first time.
Moreover, an exercise was carried out on August 8 with the purpose of inspecting on a priority basis the combined antisubmarine and naval assault operation, followed by a joint exercise of the air force which was conducted on August 9.
In the meantime, China announced that, as a countermeasure against the U.S. House Speaker’s trip to Taiwan, it cancels the China-U.S. hotline dialogue between battle zone commanders of the two countries, working-level meeting between the military authorities of the two countries and China-U.S. consultative mechanism for maritime military security.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense of China emphasized as follows: The Eastern Battle Zone of CPLA organized purposeful exercises including combined naval assault, land attack and air operation by several services and arms, together with live firing of precision guided weapons. This serves as a stern warning to the U.S.-Taiwan collusion. China will firmly safeguard its national sovereignty and territorial stability, and it will never leave any room for any form of act seeking “independence of Taiwan” as well as for outside interference.
