Japan’s Missile Development Escalates Tension

Date: 19/08/2022 | Source: Ministry of Foreign Affairs (EN) | Read original version at source

Japan persists in its reckless military move to disturb the regional peace and stability.

To give an example, it is recently scheming to develop a ground-to-ship missile with 1 000km-range to be deployed for battle until 2024 under the pretext of countering “military threats” from the neighboring countries.

Prior to this, Japanese defense ministry picked on our country describing it as “grave and imminent threat” to its security in “2022 White Paper on Defense".

While enumerating about “threats to security”, it also expressed “grave security concerns” in regard to China and Russia insisting that they “should never be tolerated”.

Moreover, the white paper laid bare, for the first time, the plan to legalize the possession of the “capability for counterattack” as its state policy by including it in its “national security strategy” which is to be amended by the end of this year.

Japan is attempting to possess, develop and purchase armaments for preemptive attack such as various missiles including long-range missiles, aircraft carriers, patrol planes, new-type stealth fighters, submarines, etc. And its real intention is clear.

That is to publicize its security risk by fabricating nonexistent “threats from neighbors”. On this basis, it is intent on amending constitution, increasing defense expense, and legalizing the possession of capability of preemptive strike.

In case Japan deploys ground-to-ship missile with 1 000km-range, most of the coastal areas of Chinese eastern sea including Shanghai will be placed within its firing range, to say nothing of the East Sea and West Sea of Korea near Japan, and this will inevitably invite increased military tension in the region.

The international society vividly remembers the historical fact that the provoker of war and wrecker of peace is none other than Japan which had turned the Asian continent into bloodbath in the beginning of 20th century and committed unparalleled inhumane crimes against humankind.

Japan should bear in mind that if it continues to deploy offensive weapons while clinging to arms built-up which aggravates military tension, they will rather face all the more serious security risk.
