A few days ago, Russian President made a speech in the plenary meeting of the 7 th Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok.
In the speech, he said that the forum is a good occasion for reevaluating the global economic situation and exchanging views on major tendencies of and dangers to global economy and went on to comment as follows:
The Eastern Economic Forum of the last year was held at the time just after the COVID-19 crisis had been mitigated to some extent.
At that time, most of the experts had same views on that the business activities would be resumed and return to the normal state if anti-epidemic restriction measures are lifted.
However, new challenges threatening the entire globe have emerged and have replaced the malignant pandemic.
They include sanctions fever and undisguised and warlike attempts of the West to force other countries into its own way of conduct, infringe upon their sovereignty and subordinate them.
This process is accelerated by the incompetent Western countries that refuse to acknowledge the waning supremacy of the US in the world economy and politics and to face the objective reality.
Lately, irrevocable social upheavals are taking place in international relations.
The roles of many countries and regions of the world including the Asia-Pacific region are increasing, and these countries are becoming new centers of economic and technological development where the talent, capital and production are being concentrated.
Nevertheless, the Western countries are persistently demanding other countries to abide by their infamous “rules” in order to sustain the old international order favorable only to them.
This does not only go against interests of other countries and people but also the people of the Western countries.
It is true that the world economy and all forms of international relations are going through hard times now, but we are confident that the logic of cooperation, potential cohesion and mutual benefit will prevail.
