Many people visit the Kumsanpho Speciality Shop found everywhere in the capital city.
Originally, the Kumsanpho area had been known as a place of iron ore production which supplies it to the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex.
But the place is now recognized as a place of producing tasty and nutritious processed pickles.
The Kumsanpho Fish Pickling Factory distinctively makes pickles with various kinds of fishes from the West Sea of Korea.
The pickles are made with such fishes as anchovy, such shellfishes as clam, mussel and oyster and roes of such fishes as cod, salmon and trout.
According to experts, pickles, which are made to produce salty taste and unique fragrance by preserving seafood and by-products in salt and fermenting them, help improve appetite and digestion for their proteolytic functions, such nutritious elements as lactic bacterium, vitamins and minerals and unique fermentation taste, and are widely used as side dish and seasoning for good storability.
The factory lends ears to the public and constantly strives to develop good ideas for the qualitative development of products.
“The clients of our shop lavish praise on our pickles for the good taste,” said Ho Myong Suk, manageress of the Ryonghung Kumsanpho Speciality Shop.
Among the buyers, there are a housewife who said her husband, who was particular about food, ceased to complain about meals since he began to eat the pickles of the Kumsanpho Fish Pickling Factory and an elderly woman who said that her grandson attending a kindergarten eats double shares.
“I harden my resolve to better serve them while informing them of the taste and characteristics of each pickle product,” said saleswoman Kim Un Gyong.
