Enjoying the social respect and preferential treatment as revolutionary forerunners and seniors thanks to the people-centered socialist system of our style, aged people in our country are observing the International Day of Older Persons - October 1.

Under the socialist system where the most superior people-oriented policies are enforced for the promotion of people’s health and welfare, the aged people in our country are enjoying blessed life. Under the warm care of the Party, the number of people who live more than 100 years in good health keeps increasing.

In September alone, lone-lived people who marked centennial birthday had the privilege to receive the birthday food of love sent by respected Comrade Kim Jong Un . They include Kim Hung Sun in Koryo-dong , Kaesong city, Jo Bong Son living in Ryongchon county, North Pyongan Province,   Ri Song Som in Pukchong county, South Hamgyong Province and Chae Kum Hwa in Dongdaewon district, Pyongyang city.

Not only the long-lived people who received the birthday food but also their family members and relatives are greatly moved by the ever-growing benevolence of respected comrade Kim Jong Un who thought of even the birthdays of ordinary older people though he is preoccupied with all state affairs.

Many countries in the world are also enforcing welfare policies for the elders but there is no such country as ours where the social policy for the elders are constantly exercised under the direct guidance of the leader even in the face of manifold national crises caused by ever-worsening moves of hostile forces to isolate and stifle us, global health crisis, etc.

Though respected comrade Kim Jong Un was busy with his revolutionary leadership, he personally came up with the initiative to build Pyongyang Old People's Home and solved all problems arising in its construction from design to supply of building materials. When it was inaugurated on August 1, 2015, he paid a visit to this place and showed great consideration for the elders.

The Pyongyang Old People’s Home is sited at the beautiful banks of Taedong river exhibiting Korean architectural characteristics of gabled roofs that brims over with national flavor. Its rush mats on ondol floored bedrooms; the rooms furnished with soft cushions and backrests, various electronic appliances and wardrobes; every single detail of this home is associated with the paternal affection of respected comrade Kim Jong Un .

Winter clothing, hats, summer wears, sportswear and Korean Chima (skirt) and jogori (coat) file the wardrobes; boot cupboards are filled with shoes for all seasons and dressing tables full of quality cosmetics that even young women would envy; nutritious foods fill the tables at every meal; this is our Pyongyang Old People’s Home.

Under the direct guidance of respected comrade Kim Jong Un , old people’s homes were built in modern style in every province just after the inauguration of Pyongyang Old People’s Home. Also in picturesque places such as Pyongyang city, Nampho city and Kangwon Province, sanatoriums for war veterans equipped with all necessary conditions for rest and treatment have been wonderfully built to ensure that our elders enjoy their remaining years without any worries.

Indeed, our elders living in the embrace of our people-centered socialist system where the virtues and traits of respecting and preferentially treating the aged are becoming national customs and manners are the happiest people who enjoy all blessings of the world.
