The Pyongyang Turf Institute is intensifying the research for breeding turf of good species and putting its cultivation on a highly scientific basis.
Over the past 10 years the institute has registered more than 20 new species of turf as national species and achieved successes in the research into nutrient solution and compound fertilizer needed for their cultivation.
Turf of different varieties was bred amid the intensified research for acclimatizing choice varieties and improving and breeding good species.
Research is also promoted to lengthen the greening days of the beautiful turf and increase its ornamental value.
Successes were also made in the study of nutrient solution and compound fertilizer for turf cultivation.
A foundation was laid for mass-producing a new compound fertilizer with seaweeds as main ingredients and a nutrient solution made of water lettuce.
The institute is generalizing the data on latest science and technology in the whole country.
Besides, it is directing efforts to the research and introduction of grasses of peculiar ornamental effect.
