Francisco Davila ValleChairman,Costa Rican Institute for the Study of the Juche IdeaThe world progressive people revere President Kim Il Sung (1912-1994) of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, calling him the sun of mankind.Prominent Veteran Statesman in the 20th CenturyPresident Kim Il Sung authored the Juche idea, that gives the principles of class emancipation, national and human liberation, and positively supported the progressive people struggling for independence against imperialism, thus making a weighty contribution to the accomplishment of human cause of independence.By applying correctly the Juche idea under the leadership of great President Kim Il Sung, the DPRK people turned the country that had been a backward feudal state into a developed and socialist country.Even under difficult conditions on which the DPRK people were building up their economy and defence simultaneously in 1960s, the President saw that the positive assistance was given to the states fighting for the regional peace and stability.A western paper wrote as follows in an article titled “Leader of the Last 20th Century”:“We began to have aspiration for independence thanks to President Kim Il Sung, which served as one of important factors that led the last century.”President Kim Il Sung’s contribution made to the cause of independence against imperialism will be immortal.Great MentorPresident Kim Il Sung saw that those countries that achieved their independence maintained political stand and solved all problems in building a new society in keeping with their own realities and by their own efforts while giving active assistance to their struggle for a new society.Today, the people in many countries in the world study the principles of the Juche idea and apply them in their realities.The Juche idea was spread rapidly through continents. The Juche idea study groups are being formed in many countries, cities, universities and villages.Today, many political leaders, scholars, students and servicemen study the Juche idea. Josip Broz Tito, the former Yugoslavian president and one of founders of the non-aligned movement, praised President Kim Il Sung as the great leader of the world revolution and the non-aligned movement by saying that the present world is inconceivable apart from the august name of the President.The President gave unsparing support and aids to the newly independent countries for their economic progress and development.On different occasions, the President gave clear-cut explanation to the problems arising in the agricultural development in the non-aligned countries and many other developing countries.As commented by personages, mass media and publications in several countries, the services rendered by the President to the south-south cooperation are engraved in gold letters in the progressive people’s history of struggle for a free and prosperous new world.Personification of VirtuesPresident Kim Il Sung gave big confidence upon the people who were fighting for independence against imperialism, respecting them as true comrades and friends.The President had a friendly relationship with Norodom Sihanouk of Cambodia.The President put forward the Chinese martyr Zhang Weihua and the former USSR officer Ya. T. Novichenko as model internationalists and showed boundless affection and care to them and their family.The then Portuguese president Francisco da Costa Gomes noted that President Kim Il Sung was the great man who moved the world with his virtues.Billy Graham, a religious leader of the US said.“In Korea, I never felt necessary to preaching the Gospel. The Bible contains the God’s intention that all should love human beings. But, north Korea considers the love for human beings as the state policy. The state is responsible for the free medical care and education as well as the providing of clothing, foods and shelters. This is the politics put forward and pursued by President Kim Il Sung who believes in the people as in heaven. The Korean people revere the President as the God. Then, is there any need to preach the Bible in this country?”The President’s ardent human love and infinite generosity were not only for the Korean people but all the people in the world, transcending nationality, citizenship, religious beliefs and political views.Even the politicians in those countries hostile to the DPRK were moved by the President’s noble traits.President Kim Il Sung will be always alive in the hearts of the world people.
