One day in early March of 1941, Commander Kim Il Sung met a medical officer of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army and told him that the most important thing for medical workers dealing with human lives was to have warm humanity. From olden times, medical art has been called humane treatment which means humane viewpoint on patients takes priority over medical knowledge and techniques, he said. Since the medical officers of the KPRA are not doctors who look over the purses of patients but revolutionaries who cure wounded or ill soldiers and help them join the revolutionary ranks again, they should cherish warm revolutionary comradeship and motherly sincerity and display great creativity and devotion in their treatment activities, he noted.
He went on to say that insam and antler in the hands of a heartless doctor are less effective than an ordinary herb in the hands of a doctor who is eager to save patients’ lives even by dedicating their blood and flesh, adding that the medical workers should become those who can cure diseases with just one herb.
