The Taean Heavy Machine Complex brings about a surge in the production of custom-built equipment.
Shortly ago, when it stepped up the production of generating facilities to be sent to hydropower stations, the complex was charged with an additional task of manufacturing lots of farm machines.
According to Yang Mun Sang, chief engineer of the complex, it was believed to take several months to fulfil it.
As a farm machine has over 400 parts to be assembled, the amount of materials to be processed was four to five times as much as that in usual time. The material processing workshops of the complex which mainly manufactured large-sized equipment faced an absolute shortage of equipment with which to process tens of thousands of parts as small as screw in a short time.
However, the workers of the complex were resolved to perform the task of producing farm machines without fail, upholding the idea of the Fifth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea.
All units of the complex were replete with the spirit of encouraging new innovations and bold creations.
Processing workshops successively developed and introduced the methods to produce different materials by using various kinds of equipment in a rational way with concerted efforts and began to competitively process big and small materials a few days later.
Generating equipment processing workshop No. 2 reinforced several pieces of single-purpose equipment in a few days to activate the material production.
The generating equipment assembly workshop made a new adjustable spanner instead of the previously used heavy screw bracing device to reduce the time of assembling parts to the minimum and devised and introduced a measuring instrument to halve the time of testing the balance of shaft centre of equipment.
As a result, the complex finished the challenging production task in a month.
It has also set itself an ambitious goal for modernization and pushes ahead with the work of making equipment precise and IT-based.
It effectively carried out the technical remodelling of some facilities with reduced capacity to increase their operating rate and machining accuracy 1.5 times more than before.
