In the middle of the Taedong River that meanders through the central part of the capital city of Pyongyang is a cage-net fish farm.
To look at the fishes swimming in the farm, I am recalled of what happened one morning seven years ago.
On November 17, Juche 104 (2015), General Secretary Kim Jong Un of the Workers’ Party of Korea visited our farm installed on the Taedong River, despite the cold breeze blowing from the river.
Though I always wanted to meet him, I failed to greet him properly as tears blurred my vision and with the thought that he, busy as he was with the state affairs, visited our farm, small in size, as he was afire with a single mind to provide his people with larger amounts of fish.
Enjoying a panoramic view of the farm, he said with satisfaction that the mobile cage-net fish farm on the Taedong River looked neat and splendid, and that the farm added more to the scenery of the river.
That day, he sat on a wooden bench used by our farm workers during break, and stressed the need to briskly conduct fish farming and made his way to the feed storehouse to learn in detail about whether the fishes ate feeds well and what their components were.
Looking round the fish farm for long, the respected General Secretary said that while the Korean People’s Army raised the banner of conducting cage-net fish farming by building an offshore salmon farm, Pyongyang Municipality raised the banner of freshwater fish farming by building a cage-net fish farm on the Taedong River, instructing the officials accompanying him to launch an emulation drive for cage-net fish farming in each province, city and county.
I still remember the benevolent image of the General Secretary, when he visited our fish farm in spite of the cold rain in the morning on the Taedong River and indicated the ways for supplying our people with more fish.
Indeed, every minute and every second of his valuable hours of revolutionary activities and every day of his revolutionary leadership passes with his thought for creation for the good of the people.
As the river flows telling the moving story, I feel my workplace precious and renew my determination to contribute to improving the people’s living standards by raising fish in larger quantities.
