The year 2022 is characterized by various exhibitions that have shown the new appearance of the state development and promoted the improvement of the people’s living standards. Typical examples are the August 3 Consumer Goods Exhibition of provinces (municipalities) held in various themes and forms, 13th Pyongyang Department Store No. 1 Commodity Exhibition, Autumn National Footwear Exhibition-2022 and the Women’s Clothes Exhibition-2022.

The Kangwon Provincial Daily Necessities Exhibition held in August this year retained the characteristic features of the province and showed the development of locally-run industry well. Presented in the exhibition, the third of its kind, were more than 200 000 consumer goods of over 1 200 kinds produced by light industry factories under the administration of the cities, counties and ministries and national agencies in the province. The variety and kinds of consumer goods presented this year were twice as much as those presented in the exhibitions held in February and April. In particular, the kinds of the consumer goods presented by Kimhwa County were incomparably greater than those presented by other counties.

The goods from the local industry factories in the county which had been inaugurated in June attracted the visitors from the first day of the opening of the exhibition. A man from Wonsan, Kangwon Province, said that while seeing various kinds of quality goods produced by the modern local industry factories in Kimhwa County built under the loving care of the Workers’ Party of Korea, he felt the breath of the times in which localities were changing. The manager of the Anbyon County Daily Necessities Goods Factory who took part in the exhibition said that the current exhibition completely changed the people’s understanding of goods made by local factories, and that such change in Kimhwa County would be followed by that in all cities and counties across the country before long.

The exhibitions also served as an occasion for actively promoting the quality competition among the producer masses and production units and as a venue for exchanging, sharing and disseminating scientific and technological achievements and experience.

The 13th Pyongyang Department Store No. 1 Commodity Exhibition held in October is a good example. According to an official concerned, more than 1 330 000 consumer goods of over 2 500 kinds produced by many units across the country were put on display by their variety, which was unprecedented in the past. This added fuel to the enthusiasm for the competition among production units and provinces (cities) and counties throughout the country.

The same holds true with the Autumn National Footwear Exhibition-2022 held in the theme of diversifying footwear in terms of kind, shape, colour, light weight and durability.

Put on display at the Autumn National Footwear Exhibition-2022 were more than 100 000 products of over 1 000 kinds including leather shoes, sports shoes and other shoes presented by scores of footwear production units across the country. The demand for them was considerably high. The sci-tech presentations and symposiums held during the exhibition served as a good opportunity for exchanging, sharing and disseminating successes and experience gained in the work to realize home-production of raw and other materials and improve the quality of products.

The Women’s Clothes Exhibition-2022, which crowned this year’s exhibitions, showed the appearance of new development of socialist culture.

The venue of the exhibition was arranged in such a way as to provide formative and artistic cubic effect centring on a large LCD screen and divided into sections of ready-made clothes, cloth, bag, hairpin, brooch, cosmetics and information service. The exhibition was held with the main emphasis on seasonal clothes of women in their thirties and forties.

The exhibitions held this year encouraged the producer masses to make fresh innovations, bold creation and steady progress and made a positive contribution to improving the people’s standard of living by decisively improving the quality of consumer goods.
