Doctor Jo Hyon Ok, Director of the Medical Science and Technology Exchange Agency under the Pyongyang University of Medical Sciences, is an inventor with three patents.
She was a researcher at the university more than 10 years ago. At that time, she invented nutritive pills helping the children grow tall and established their manufacturing method with the help of her father who had devoted his life to the research into health foods. So she was awarded a patent for the first time.
She directed much effort to studying the ingredients of different kinds of medicines helping the children grow tall which had been developed and used till that time and the principles of their action, and made a detailed study and analysis of the children's growth and development.
In the course, she could make a medicine with a lot of nutritive elements necessary for helping the children and students grow tall.
The result of several years' clinical demonstrations scientifically proved that the medicine has a clear effect in making the children grow tall and has no side effects even if the children eat it as much as a snack.
Afterwards, working as the manageress of the pilot plant of the agency, she developed new anti-thrombus pills with fermented soybeans which can substitute the imported medicine for thrombosis. The manufacturing technology of the medicine was registered as a patent again.
She proved in practice that when determined, she can develop famous medicines with clear curative effect. She set the urgent problems in reality as the seed of research and got to developing a new medicine again.
She set a goal of developing a new anticancer medicine suited to the actual conditions and made laborious research for several years to solve anew the sci-tech problems arising in different synthesizing processes.
Finally she established a new synthesizing technology and efficient production method and succeeded in developing a new anticancer medicine that reached a high level in all indices.
The new anticancer medicine with less toxicity and side effects was awarded a patent and quality authentication certificate for its clear effect in cancer treatment.
Director Jo Hyon Ok has set a high goal of developing a larger amount of efficacious medicines and is making devoted efforts to develop new products though she is busy with the whole affairs of the agency.
