The area of the State Academy of Sciences is called Unjong District for it is a place permeated with the warm affection of the great leaders for the Korean scientists. And here we can find the Wisong Scientists Residential District, which is the home of happiness of the scientists.

Just like other creations of love for the people erected everywhere in our country, the Wisong Scientists Residential District is also filled with warm love of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who cares so much for our scientists.

9 years ago, on January 14, 2014, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the State Academy of Sciences as the first place of field guidance that year.

He gave precious teachings while looking around the several places of the Academy. Then he said that, in order to achieve successes in scientific research, the Party organizations must pay deep attention to the working and living conditions of the scientists and technicians and solve their problems. He further said that the Party has decided this time to build modern dwelling houses for the scientists of the State Academy of Sciences, which motivated him to visit the Academy.

He personally chose the units that would supply the building materials and emphasized that the scientists must be settled in the new houses on the occasion of the October 10, the founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea. Then he named the district Wisong Scientists Residential District in the sense that the district will be occupied by the scientists and technicians of a dignified country that manufactures and launches satellites.

When the construction of the superb residential district for our scientists was completed, he spent a long time to look around each of the dwelling houses and public buildings. There he said warmly that he would spare nothing for the scientists and that it is his intention to give them all of the best in the world.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un provided them with the best dwelling houses. As if it was not enough, he again bestowed them great love. He took a step to put modern furniture for them with its quality in mind so that they can live free from cares and worries.

There are many countries in the world and each of them is taking preferential measures for the scientists and technicians, attaching importance to science and technology. But no precedent can be found where the leader of a country initiated the building of dwelling houses for ordinary scientists and technicians and paid deep attention to it.

Even at the 6 th Plenary Meeting of the 8 th Central Committee of the WPK, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un mentioned about the importance of science and technology which plays the role of a locomotive in developing the national economy and improving the people’s living standard, and he put a special emphasis on providing research and living conditions for the scientists and technicians.

Holding the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un in high esteem as their benevolent teacher and father, our scientists and technicians are now making up their minds to prove them worthy of his love and benevolence by achieving world-startling successes in science and technology.
