One day in August Juche 35 (1946) the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung visited a mineral spring about four kilometres away from the seat of Chongsan-ri in the then Kangso County.
To keep the order in the crowded site of the mineral spring, the local people had erected a gate with pine-tree branches in front of the site and mounted guard.
Getting out of the car, Kim Il Sung came to a man who was standing guard.
The guard, having no idea who he was, asked him to identify himself.
Saying he was right, Kim Il Sung showed him his ID card.
Looking into it, the guard was surprised to find that the man he was talking to was General Kim Il Sung himself who had won back the country and distributed land to them.
The guard made a deep bow to him.
Kim Il Sung hurriedly took his hands in his and praised him, saying he was doing a good job of it.
The guard felt more awkward to hear the praise.
But Kim Il Sung asked him humbly: Can I pass now? I want to see the mineral spring site.
“Yes, please, General,” the guard managed to reply.
