Particularly noticeable at the Chongnyu Pharmaceutical Factory is a booth which puts on display patents, medicines, dozens of certificates of registration of sci-tech hits and inventions, certificates of registration of medicines at several countries and trophies and diplomas at international trade fairs.

All the successes are associated with the painstaking efforts of its manager Ri Kun Hui.

It was ten years ago when he was appointed its manager.

He felt a sense of heavy responsibility after learning about the overall situation of the factory.

The employees were paying little attention to developing new products while attaching considerable importance to the production of some limited medicines as suited to the level and capacity of the factory.

It was impossible for them, with such a work attitude, to advance their factory ahead of the developing times. He could not connive at it as he has worked as a pharmacist at several units for years.

There is no reason for a small unit not to develop new products. It depends on the viewpoint and stand. Let’s think and act boldly.

He worked out his plan in the direction of maximizing the efficacy of Koryo medicines on the basis of advanced techniques in keeping with the trend in the development of medicines.

But, to this end, he had to have his own technique with which to develop medicines conforming to the international standards in all indices.

So, he set his first goal to develop Korean-style Koryo medicines which would prove effective in treating cardiac and cerebral diseases, and buckled down to the research.

He met with teachers in his university days and researchers of the Academy of Medical Sciences for their advices and visited the producers of medicines which were highly appreciated in the exhibitions of medical sector and trade fairs to learn from their experiences.

In the course of this, he succeeded in maximizing the efficacy of medicines through fourth-, fifth- and sixth-stage processing of raw materials, which had been treated twice or thrice in the past, by relying on the resources of medicinal herbs abundant in the country.

His three-year-long painstaking efforts and repeated experiments were crowned with the development of Ginkgovia Capsule.

The medicine, which proved effective in treating heart cardiac and cerebral diseases, obtained a patent of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

Based on the research findings, he began to develop new medicines one after another every year.

Such medicines as Ginkgovia Capsule, Silybai Capsule, Salvia miltiorrhiza and Bezoar Capsule, Polycarin Capsule, Yanggeron Capsule and Salvia miltiorrhiza Antidiabetic Capsule received many diplomas and trophies at national exhibitions of inventions and new technologies and international medicine exhibitions as they proved efficacious for treating cardiac, cerebral and metabolic diseases.
