At the recent event in celebration of the Day of Victory over Japanese Militarism and End of World War II, Medvedev, the Vice-Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, said that Japan’s militarization policy is further aggravating the situation in the Asia-Pacific region.
He noted that the current Japanese authorities have forgotten the tragedies of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and that sinister dreamers have reappeared, trying to dominate the world and drive humanity to a global catastrophe like in the last century. He stated that it is our sacred duty, as it was nearly 80 years ago, to unleash a major counterattack on these warmongers and achieve victory.
The Vice-Chairman also argued that the situation in the Asia-Pacific region has become highly complex due to Japan’s dynamic build-up of its military infrastructure under U.S. support, its import of offensive arms and other foreign-made weapons, and its concurrent military exercises around the Kuril Islands.
He stressed that the incumbent Japanese authorities’ pursuit of political lines to remilitarize Japan only arouses disappointment and described them as successors to a once-bitten Japan that had met a shameful end.
