Among sportswomen who are devoting themselves to the development of the country's football techniques are Kim Un Hyang, Ryu Un Jong and Hyon Un Mi, international football referees loved and respected by the people.
Fair and Accurate Chief Referee
Previously, Kim Un Hyang played as a defender in the April 25 Sports Team.
She became an international football referee in 2020 and was awarded the prize of country’s best football referee in 2022.
On the basis of a full understanding of the teams prior to game, she skillfully leads the whole course of the game with correct positioning, quick decision-making, clear and resolute declaration. For this reason, she is praised by football experts and fans as a fair and accurate referee.
A winner of Kim Il Sung Youth Honour Prize and Merited Athlete, she took part in the celebration events of the 70th founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and Seventh National Conference of Sportspersons.
Calm and Strict Referee
Ryu Un Jong, born in Hamhung, played as a seed midfielder for the Rimyongsu Sports Team for over 20 years.
She is ambitious, courageous and tenacious and does what she is determined to do without fail. After she became a football referee in May 2015, she made strenuous efforts to acquire a high sense of fair play and practical qualifications as a referee.
When refereeing a game, she would, sharply observing every movement, judge the fouls by the players correctly. For this reason, she was called a fair and strict referee by players and coaches.
She was qualified as an international football referee in October 2021.
Referee with Sharp Observation and Accurate Judgement
Hyon Un Mi, who started playing football at the then Mangyongdae District Extracurricular Juvenile Sports School in Pyongyang, was a promising player possessed of high physical and technical abilities, sharp observation and accurate judgement.
In the past she helped her team to win several domestic and international games with her calm and skilful judgement even under the ever-changing complicated match situation.
She became an international football referee in 2016. As an assistant referee, she actively helped the chief referee to make a correct declaration in time by correctly judging fouls in the goal area, offside and outside ball, leaving a deep impression on the spectators.
She was selected as the best football referee for 2017, for she had refereed several international games in a fair and responsible manner and thereby attracted attention from experts and fans.
