The Medical Rehabilitation Committee of the Hospitals Association of Korea was founded in December Juche 98 (2009) with a mission to contribute to promoting the people's health and developing the country's rehabilitation medicine through research and technical exchanges in the field of rehabilitation medicine and experts training.
Based on the latest achievements in the field of rehabilitation medicine and the existing literature, the committee conducts research, diagnosis and treatment to recover patients with various dysfunctions caused by stroke, heart diseases, metabolic diseases, etc.
By applying the Mckenzie technique and core stabilization exercise, which are recognized as advanced rehabilitation treatment techniques in the circles of rehabilitation medicine, in clinical practice in conformity with the constitutional characteristics of the Korean people, it improves their efficacy.
The committee sponsors more than one general meeting and sci-tech symposium every year, through which successes and experience gained in the field of rehabilitation medicine are shared and generalized across the country. It has also compiled reference books such as "Rehabilitation" and "Therapeutic Exercise" to help medical workers cure patients and manage their health.
The committee consists of specialist departments for rehabilitation in central and regional hospitals with the Munsu Rehabilitation Clinic as the centre, a comprehensive rehabilitation center in the country, which provide anyone with comprehensive and convenient specialist medical services and educational environment.
The committee joined the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM) in June 2019 and has held several internet online symposiums and sci-tech forums with them and several other organizations.
"We will make positive efforts to promote the health and well-being of all people with disabilities and bring about a radical improvement in the field of rehabilitation medicine," said Kim Hyon Ju, chairman of the committee.
