Teachers and researchers at Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering have made fresh achievements in scientific research, helping improve the people's living standards and develop the national economy.

They have designed and manufactured a high-power ultrasonic washer and installed it at the Kumsong Tractor Factory for its second-stage renovation project, and played their part in the modernization projects at the Ryongsong Machine Complex, the Kusong Machine Tool Factory and other industrial establishments.

Also, they have helped modernize production lines at the Sunchon Chemical Complex and the Ryonggang Stone Dressing Plant by updating the packing process and conveying system of the former’s nutritional liquid fertilizer factory and installing a distributed control unit for the establishment of an integrated production control system at the latter.

In their efforts to help implement the Regional Development 20×10 Policy of the Workers’ Party of Korea, they are pushing ahead with the manufacture of the equipment for the seafood processing line as planned after completing the designs of a seafood processing line, packing line, spreader and wood conveying lift in a short span of time. They are also engaged in the project to build a wheat processing base in Songchon County.

With the help of them, the textile industry continues to introduce the air-jet looms on an expansion basis so as to dispense with machine parts, such as shuttle, shuttle needle rod, picker and gripper, increase the yield of products and raise productivity and operation rate of looms.

The Rangnang District Food Administration Station in Pyongyang completed an energy-, labour-, cost- and area-saving rice processing line including a new unhulled rice separator, and solved problems arising in its installation and trial operation, thus making it possible to boost the rate of cleaned rice output. This success is being applied nationwide.

The researchers carried out a load test run and general gearing of the newly-developed fodder mill, enabling livestock farms to save much labour in fodder processing and increase quality feed.

"Plasma-based cylinder heat treatment device", "Drunken driving preventer", "Plastic card-printing machine" and "Auto-feeding ejector of toothpaste tube" and other sci-tech achievements, which have been applied to practice, have been awarded certificates of national invention.

In recent years, dozens of papers, especially "Stability of non-degenerate stationary solution in inflow problem for a 1D radiation hydrodynamics model" and "Effect of the helical-spiral shroud intake valve on flow in cylinder of internal combustion engine," have been published on SCI-class international journals.
