Researchers at Kim Chaek University of Technology have made achievements that help develop the national economy and improve the people’s living standards.
They addressed sci-tech problems arising in the inauguration of a new energy-saving oxygen-blast furnace in the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, providing a guarantee for the normal operation of the floating preheating-style oxygen-blast furnace.
They worked out a paddy-field rice cultivation method by means of an electric impluse water treatment technology and introduced it to farms in Pyongyang, South Hwanghae Province and many other places, helping them boost per-hectare yields.
While working on a project for making high-grade potassium bicarbonate and alumina from potassium feldspar abundant in the country, they have provided a guarantee for putting the production line on an industrial basis.
Their development of three kinds of cutting hard metal tools and identification of their performance enabled the Ryongsong Machine Complex to successfully process parts of large gas compressors.
With the help of the researchers, the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex establsihed an optimal system to ensure a perfect automatic control of the overall ingoting line and manufactured parts of each process, thus succeeding in a new model of curved plate continuous casting.
Other research achievements include the development of the technology for the production of a slow-acting fertilizer that is over 1.5 times more effective than the previous one and the establishment of a slow-acting granule urea fertilizer production line at the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex, the establsihment of a crystal thenardite production line at the December 5 Youth Mine which reduces loss of ore and remarkably raises the extraction rate as compared to the previous one, the completion of a production line at the Kangdong Combined Greenhouse Farm which turns out substrate by using perlite, and the establishment of the pig iron production line based on a high-speed smelting reduction ironmaking method at the Songjin Steel Complex.
“Free vibration and stationary stochastic response analyses of heated composite laminated plate with varying thickness and curvilinear fibre using a meshfree method” by Kwak Song Hun, a researcher at the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Technology, was published on an Austrian SCI-class journal Acta Mechanica. More than 200 studies were introduced by international journals between last year and August this year.
