Jong Hye Yong has been working as a nurse at the injection section of the Acupuncture Hospital of the Koryo Medicine General Hospital for over 30 years since before she got married.
People often ask her if she finds it difficult to stay on at her job.
Seeing her exerting herself every day for the treatment and recovery of patients, her eldest daughter once asked her if she really liked her job as a nurse.
With a thin smile, she answered that she loved her job.
After she was appointed a nurse at the section, she enrolled at Haeju College of Medical Sciences under the benefit of the study-while-you-work system. When she graduated from the college with honours, she thought of becoming a doctor.
But she decided to remain a nurse, reminding herself of an unforgettable nurse. When she was younger, her father contracted an incurable disease. The nurse in charge of him tried her all to save him. She left an indelible impression upon Jong.
Moreover, while working as a nurse, she keenly realized that a nurse knows more than anybody else about her patients and the more sincerity she devotes, the more quickly the patient recovers, and grew more attached to her job.
In the course of this, she saved many patients by dedicating all her sincerity.
When Kim Jin U, a special-class honoured disabled ex-soldier living in Kusong, North Phyongan Province, was diagnosed during his inpatient treatment as having an incurable disease, she, in cooperation with other medical workers, cured him. And she has been looking after him for 16 years since he left the hospital.
Seeing her doing everything she can for her patients, all her colleagues and patients say that she lives her life for others.
