The Russian permanent representative to the United Nations strongly denounced Israel’s invasion of Lebanon at a meeting of the UN Security Council on the Middle East issue on October 2.
Asserting that now the Middle East has been embroiled in a war, he noted that Israel is wholly to blame for aggravating the regional situation.
He said that Israel had already known that in case it removed the general secretary of Hezbollah, an organization of Lebanese patriotic forces, terrible consequences would occur in the whole Mideast region, but it killed him to worsen the situation intentionally.
He stated that Russia demands that Israel immediately stop military actions and withdraw from Lebanon and expresses solidarity with the government and people of Lebanon that have come under armed invasion.
Criticizing the US, an accomplice, for paralyzing the work of the UNSC and making every effort to help Israel, he said that the UNSC should not look on weakly as Israel commits atrocities, but urge them to stop military actions at once.
