Projects are now well underway to boost the level of education at institutions of higher education.

The Ministry of Education directs efforts to the organization and guidance for giving university lecturers teaching practice with in-service training and vigorously conducting academic unification.

Dozens of excellent lecturers from Kim Il Sung University, Kim Chaek University of Technology, Pyongyang University of Foreign Studies and other central universities go down to universities and colleges across the country as lecturers for refresher courses to learn about the problems arising in teaching the subjects of relevant units and give substantial help to them.

Hundreds of reference materials for teaching, latest sci-tech data and effective and superior teaching methods have been disseminated in dozens of universities and colleges including Chongjin University of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering and Hamhung University of Chemical Industry. Refresher courses are offered on basic subjects, foreign languages and others, contributing to improving the qualifications of university and college lecturers.

Lecturers of local universities and colleges improve their qualifications as educators through educational practices at central universities.

Relevant departments of the central universities analyze successes and shortcomings in their educational activities and render great assistance to improving the quality of lectures.

At the same time, they pay attention to the pedagogical and academic guidance for local universities and colleges while conducting vigorous activities for academic unification.

Experience-sharing sessions, short courses and consultative meetings on the improvement of teaching methods are often arranged, contributing greatly to innovating the curriculums and putting teaching contents on a practical, comprehensive and modern basis.

They also work hard to actively develop diverse and advanced teaching methods and steadily improve them to train creative talents with high practical abilities while preserving the individual characters of students.

In the course of it, research-oriented teaching and study methods are being applied to improve the students’ ability to study, research and practise by themselves.

According to an official of the Ministry of Education, many universities and colleges have achieved marked successes by actively creating and introducing effective and superior teaching methods and making great efforts to ensure students become active learners and researchers and acquire knowledge and ability to be used in practice.
