East Pyongyang Middle School No. 1 has been well-known for having trained many reserve talents. In recent years, students of the school won several national academic contests.
This is attributable to the high qualifications and teaching methods of teachers.
The school administration conducts a regular assessment of qualifications of teachers.
The teaching contest serves as an important occasion in improving them.
In the course of creating and introducing new teaching methods by sharing their experience and pooling their collective wisdom, they come up with good teaching methods.
The school also attaches importance to experiments and practical training.
Teachers have increased the proportion of experiments and practical training as they are fully aware of the importance of them in preparing students into talents who are equipped with theory and practice.
The school organized a presentation of teachers, who are exemplary in experiments and practical training and renovated the environment of relevant rooms according to the characteristics of subjects.

Hong Son Yong, a physics group teacher, has the special skill of giving students a deep understanding of theoretical contents and teaching them unique ways of thinking.
