Russian President Putin recently met with winners of the pan-Russian best teachers’ contest with Teacher’s Day just ahead.

In the meeting held in the way of video-conferencing, he said that the role of teachers is important in making educational space in conformity with future development goals.

The innovative teaching methods of teachers, who won high appraisal in the contest, should be widely generalized and such meetings should be often organized with the support of the Ministry of Education and regional educational institutions to share experience, thus contributing to the improvement of teachers’ qualifications, he stressed.

Saying that exchange with representatives of the specialized fields including scientists will help raise the knowledge level of teachers and correctly confirm the educational priority, he stated that the government would further activate such an undertaking.

Highly praising the efforts of the teachers who have devoted themselves to raising students into excellent persons possessing ample knowledge in a congratulatory meeting on the occasion of Teacher’s Day, he stressed the need to update education programmes and improve educational infrastructure so that they can give students a modern education as required by the present reality, an era of advanced technology.

Russia is now pushing ahead with projects for further arousing the national interest in education and developing education.

It works to introduce excellent things of the educational system of the former Soviet Union and restore its edifying and valuable elements, while applying advanced technology to the courses of study.

It focuses its efforts on developing the education in mathematics, physics and chemistry as it orients education towards not only patriotism but also the training of competent experts.

Its increase of investment in the educational field has resulted in a series of successes.

Since it started the work to set up advanced engineering schools in 2022, it has so far established 50 such schools in 28 areas.

Last year, more than 22 000 students finished the schools and 75 000 engineers were reeducated.

There are reportedly 21 bases in a recently built industrial zone in the eastern area of Moscow, including workshops and laboratories where students can apply to practice the science and technology of different fields they have learned at school.

According to a decree on science fund development strategy adopted this year, Russia is planning to establish over 100 advanced higher educational institutions and sci-tech centres by 2030.

And efforts are being made to support backward scientific research sectors, build up advanced research groups and apply cutting-edge technology to the economy.

Russia strengthens its technological independence by way of introducing new technologies into production and makes active investment to build up talent forces of vocational educational institutions at all levels.

It also channels big efforts into improving educational environment.

It has a plan to repair 18 500 school buildings and about 800 dormitories by the end of 2030.

Russia’s efforts to develop education have provided favourable conditions for social progress and stimulated the building of a powerful state.
