At a consultative meeting of senior officials of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the provincial Party committees in June 2021, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un expressed his determination to have children supplied with dairy products. And he said that nursery and kindergarten days are a very important period for the growth of children and that nutrition management in childhood should be done well and it is particularly important for children in nursery days when they are weaned and in kindergarten days.
The consultative meeting was soon followed by the Third Plenary Meeting of the Eighth WPK Central Committee to discuss the issue of improving and bolstering the Party’s childcare policy. At the meeting Kim Jong Un declared that there is no more important revolutionary work than the work of bringing up children, the future of the country, to be strong and sound and that it is the most important policy and supreme cherished desire of the Party and state to provide more improved conditions for bringing them up even by investing a huge sum of money.
One day in September that year, he tasted milk powder produced on a trial basis in Pyongyang. Then he phoned a senior official of the Pyongyang Municipal Committee of the WPK, saying that it was necessary to make milk powder without the slightest shortcomings as it was to be supplied to children.
Afterwards, he tasted again the milk powder produced by the city’s officials and researchers on trial, and expressed satisfaction over the fact that it was made well, adding that it could be passed only when children have it and call it good.
In the DPRK, dairy products are supplied on a regular basis to all the nursery and kindergarten children across the country at state expense.
