Twenty cities and counties across the DPRK, including South Phyongan Province’s Songchon County and South Hamgyong Province’s Hamju County, are making strenuous efforts to carry out the Regional Development 20×10 Policy.

As the most people-oriented initiative that fully embodies the people-first principle, the policy of regional development in the new era is one of the priority tasks of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

The WPK regards it as the duty of its activities to pay due attention to the people’s living conditions throughout the country and work hard to improve them. It has set it as its historic task to fulfil with courage, no matter how hard it may be, to shake off the centuries-old backwardness of the local areas, and it is confidently leading the efforts.

In fact, the endeavour presupposes enormous investment by the State, given that all the cities and counties of the country are to build a lot of structures ranging from foodstuff and garment factories directly related to the people’s livelihood to advanced health facilities, food grain management facilities and multi-functional cultural complexes. However, the WPK, which has put forward the selfless, devoted service for the people as its mode of existence and Party climate, spares no money and efforts in advancing the regional development policy while making stubborn and meticulous efforts to this end.

Thanks to its energetic leadership, the building forces have been reinforced and a well-regulated system of materials supply and control has been established, ensuring the implementation of the policy.

It is not an easy job to help 20 cities and counties lay solid foundations for their economic development all at once and at the expense of the State. In the circumstances, the WPK sets great store by ensuring the quality of the structures in conformity with the requirements of design and construction work, with priority given to the provision of convenience for the local people who will use them.

It is the core of the new regional development policy and the unshakable will of the Party to make sure that everyone on this land, be they in the capital or remote areas, lead an affluent and civilized life under the socialist policy of the State.

The regional development policy is, to all intents and purposes, designed to substantially improve the living standards of the people across the country and to lead them to civilization in the new era and instil in them the great pride of being members of the powerful state and the absolute confidence in a better future. Herein lie its popular characteristics.

Witnessing the majestic looks of the mushrooming regional-industry factories, the Korean people are feeling grateful for the Party and they are making innovations at their worksites with redoubled confidence.
