Some Republicans of the U.S. House of Representatives recently proposed a “resolution”, calling for the removal of One China policy and restoration of “official diplomatic relationship” between the U.S. and Taiwan. In regard to this, the spokesperson for Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of China expressed strong opposition and rejection.
The spokesperson stressed that Taiwan is an inalienable part of the Chinese territory and One-China principle is the cornerstone for international relations, the political foundation and the fundamental prerequisite for the establishment and development of diplomatic relations between China and the U.S.
The spokesperson expressed strong opposition to the handful of U.S. politicians, who are going against the course of history by non-compliance with the U.S. commitment to One-China policy as stipulated in the 3 joint communique between China and the U.S.
