One day in October 1952 when the Fatherland Liberation War (June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953) was at its height, the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung (April 15, 1912-July 8, 1994) was strolling in an open space near the operation room of the Supreme Headquarters.
After a good while, he called soldiers of the bodyguard company. He said that it would be good to plant trees there and told them to plant five trees each.
They stepped up preparations in high spirits digging pits.
Kim Il Sung came back to the place. He took up a spade and planted five trees.
After a while, he went round the place and told the soldiers to fix tags bearing their names on the trees they planted and tend them well. Then he fixed tags bearing his name on the trees he planted.
Seeing the tags, the soldiers were deeply impressed by his ennobling patriotism that holds dear every tree and every blade of grass in the country.
