Every spring and autumn meat and eggs are supplied to all families in Kwanmun-dong No. 2, Rangnang District, Pyongyang.
Such supply is what the Kwanmun-dong No. 2 stockbreeding workteam under the Rangnang District Housewives’ Stockbreeding Management Board has done unfailingly over the past 10-odd years.
In 2011 Ri Yong Hui was appointed head of the workteam, and from the beginning she made up her mind to increase livestock output.
She led less than twenty housewives to build a new workteam building and breeding quarters. And she worked out a meat production plan twice as high as the previous one.
“We visited scientific research institutes and animal husbandry units to learn their experiences and, on this basis, we began to establish a scientific breeding system,” said Ri Yong Hui.
In addition, the workteam expanded the scope of stockbreeding beyond pigs-raising to chickens and ducks and consolidated material and technical foundations for scientific production all the year round.
In the course of this, the workteam members became competent veterinarians and technicians, boosting the production of meat and eggs year on year.
Such products have been supplied to a total of thousands of families in the neighbourhood over the decade, and to war veterans every month.
They have also supplied their products to military units and major construction sites.
This has earned the workteam admiration and respect from the residents, and Ri Yong Hui herself was honoured with the title of meritorious person of socialist patriotism.
