Kung Jong Sik, a teacher at Phyongsong University of Education, has made remarkable achievements in his efforts to develop the country’s education and teach students better.
He majored in the Korean literature. What is noteworthy in his educational work is that he continuously works out and introduces new teaching methods.
Over 10 years ago he graduated from Phyongsong University of Education and began to teach at his alma mater. He made great efforts to prepare himself for class by reading lots of books to obtain as much information about the major and collecting effective resources from leading educational units.
Not long after he started his career, Kung distinguished himself as a competent teacher.
He used AI technology to develop some programs including the Korean language norms evaluation program and the cultured Korean language pronunciation evaluation program, which have turned out to be greatly helpful in teaching and research work.
In particular, the Korean morphological analysis program, a hit at the national IT achievements exhibition-2023, is gaining popularity in the academic circles as it can automatically carry out an analysis and evaluation of the parts of speech and particles in given sentences.
The Korean language norms evaluation program is welcomed by students and office workers as well. It automatically checks errors in spacing and spelling and finds out non-standard words in any sentences.
In recent years Kung was instrumental in compiling seven kinds of textbooks, including Korean language textbooks for the first- and second-year junior middle school students, to suit the country’s concrete condition, psychological features of the students and global trend of education.
Such effective teaching methods are being generalized to the teachers training colleges and universities across the country. Some of them have been successfully applied to the primary and junior middle schools in South Phyongan Province.
With dozens of certificates of registered new teaching methods under his belt, he is now associate professor and has a master’s degree. He was nominated as one of the top ten teachers of 2024.
