It happened when President Kim Il Sung came out to North Hamgyong Province and worked among theworkers of a labour union after the September 18 Incident occurred in 1931.
One day, he listened to the workers talking withlittle confidence about the struggle of the Korean people like the harvest struggleafter reading newspaper reports. And he said that they should not make a hastyconclusion on that matter,telling them a variety of stories about the harvest struggle going on in the Jiandaoarea including the struggle of the Korean peasants who fought against thevicious landlords and fulfilled their demands in the Yanji area.
He explained in plain language the failure in theIndependence Army activities, the cause of failure in the May 30 Uprising andthe August 1 Uprising and the differences between the harvest struggle wellunderway in Jiandao and the previous uprisings. He also told them about the miserableplight of the Korean people who eked out existence under the oppression andexploitation by the Japanese imperialist aggressors, landlords and capitalists,saying that they should not be afraid of death, but rise up and fight against theenemy in order to rid themselves of poverty and absence of rights.
There is no one in the world who will save theKorean people and no one wants to save them, he said, noting that the onlything they can believe is their strength. He added that only when they set outon the road of struggle united single-mindedly, can they defeat the Japaneseimperialist aggressors and liberate the country.
His instructions that day instilled fresh courageand confidence in the revolutionary struggle in the workers and served as apowerful motive force that inspired them to dedicate themselves to the sacredwar for national liberation.
