The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un values and holds up the athletes, who demonstrate the honour of the country and fly the national flag in the sky of a foreign country, more than anybody else.
On July 31, 2013, he met the players who came first in the 2013 East Asia Cup Women's Football Competition.
The players were very excited to see him whom they had longed for even in dream.
The 2013 East Asia Cup Women's Football Competition was held between July 20 and 27 that year.
In the competition held in the way of league match, the Korean women footballers fully displayed the Korean-style game tactics, the football techniques, and their strong spirit and unity.
In the last match held on July 27 marking the 60th anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the war against the US imperialists, in particular, they ran for the honour of the motherland and achieved victory in the competition.
Kim Jong Un met the women footballers and highly appreciated their efforts time and again, saying they achieved victory on V-Day and thus gave a pleasure and joy, confidence in victory and optimism to the people significantly celebrating the V-Day July 27.
That day, he stressed the need to direct great efforts and pay deep attention to further developing the women's football so as to bring up lots of players like Ri Kum Suk who won a reputation in international games in the past.
This instruction carried the great trust and expectation of Kim Jong Un who wants the players to demonstrate the honour of the motherland in the international games in the future, too, by following the noble mental spirit of the athletes of former generations.
His trust became the source of great strength and the women footballers could achieve victories in many international games afterwards, too.
