Public and torchlight processions took place at Kim Il Sung Square on October 11 in celebration of the 80th founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

Pak Thae Song and Choe Ryong Hae, members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, and other leading officials of the Party and government took the platform amid the playing of the state welcome music.

The platform was also taken by veteran cadres who had worked at important state posts for a long time, commanding officers of the large combined units of the Korean People’s Army, labour innovators and persons of merit.

Present there at invitation were members of the congratulatory groups and delegations of overseas Koreans, overseas compatriots, foreign guests on a visit to the DPRK and resident diplomatic envoys.

The reserved seats were taken by the participants in the celebrations of the 80th founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, members of the letter of loyalty relay teams and officials and working people of institutions, factories and enterprises in Pyongyang including ministries and national agencies.

Ju Chang Il, alternate member of the Political Bureau and department director of the WPK Central Committee, made a speech.

He stressed that the grand stream of single-minded unity that would flow through the square of glory etched with the victorious history of the Korean revolution will be a solemn description of the history, the present and the future of the WPK with the solid cornerstone unshakeable in the face of serious challenges and pressure and demonstrate the will of the younger generation to remain infinitely loyal to the Juche-oriented socialist cause led by the WPK.

Amid the solemn playing of the song “People Offer Glory to Our Party”, the public procession began with a float depicting the symbolic tower of the Workers’ Party of Korea at the head.

When the demonstrators holding high the portraits of the pioneer generation of the cause of Party building and ardent loyalists who supported the Party with staunch revolutionary faith and moral obligation entered the square full of joy of celebration, an enthusiastic cheer went up from among the audience.

The columns of demonstrators symbolizing the annals of the glorious struggle marched past one after another, telling how the 80-year history of modern Korea could shine full of dignity and honour.

When the column of demonstrators carrying the dear image of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un entered the square of celebration highly praising the sacred history of the founding and building of the WPK, all the people were filled with profound reverence and excitement.

It was followed by the column of people cheering the Party building, that of the working class beating middle-size drums, that of floats, that of people cheering regional prosperity, that of dancing farmers, that of children’s union members moving rhythmically and others, implanting in the minds of people that the new heyday of the build-up of the whole Party, the brilliant new era of our-state-first principle and the history of great change in which both people and the mountains and rivers change beyond recognition, all of which were ushered in on this land in a little over 10 years that can be claimed to be a moment of history, are the immortal revolutionary exploits that could be performed only by the great Comrade Kim Jong Un .

The column carrying a national flag passed through the square, demonstrating the immutable faith and will to surely achieve the final victory of the revolutionary cause of Juche under the leadership of the great Party Central Committee, together with the float bearing a large slogan reading “Long live the great Workers’ Party of Korea!”

The public procession culminated with a dazzling display of fireworks.

Then there followed the torchlight procession “Forward, Patriotic Youth, Reserves of the Workers’ Party of Korea!”

When the solemn melody of the revolutionary hymn “Ode to General Kim Jong Un ” resounded, the torchlight procession heated up with the ardent reverence of youth and students for the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un , who provided a great history of attaching importance to youth and built a dignified youth power on this land.

All columns of the torchlight procession marching vigorously, forming letters like “Might of Korea” and “Banner of victory”, demonstrated the spirit of hot-blooded young people always advancing straight forward, following the Party and fluttering the flag of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League.

In the venue overflowing with the indomitable pioneering and valiant spirit of hot-blooded young people, who are performing miracles and feats in all sites of socialist construction, there impressively appeared formations one after another, depicting new entities which represent the new era of prosperity of Pyongyang, great changes in regions and rural development, along with those for such letters as “People-first principle” and “Earthly paradise”.

While fireworks of different colours were set off in the night sky over the capital city, the torchlight procession ended with the marching of columns of young vanguard depicting the emblem of the WPK and such letters as “Number one death-defying corps” and “Glory to the motherly Party!”

The public and torchlight processions in celebration of the 80th founding anniversary of the WPK fully demonstrated the true features of the single-minded unity peculiar to the DPRK where the Party and the masses of the people have formed a harmonious whole, the bright future of the country and the invincible spirit of socialist Korea which is building a powerful and best ideal society for the people under the leadership of the great Comrade Kim Jong Un .
