An exhibition “Development of Light Industry-2025” took place at the Three-Revolution Exhibition House in the capital city of Pyongyang last month.
On display were more than 68 000 light industrial goods of over 600 kinds presented by 580-odd units across the country―fabrics, shoes, household electric appliances, daily necessities, foodstuffs and furniture, etc.
On the first floor of the exhibition hall the visitors could not take away their eyes from a wide range of new products presented by the textile and knitwear industries.
Among the standouts were the suitings by the Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Textile Mill, the woven silk fabrics with various patterns by the sericulture and silk industry sector, Lyocell goods made for trial by the Chemical Fibre Institute of the State Academy of Sciences, the polyester comforters made with recycled plastic waste by the Ponghwa Polyester Fibre Factory, and the functional socks newly developed by the Pyongyang Hosiery Factory.
As they were based on locally available raw materials, they inspired hope for solving the problem of people’s clothes.
What stole the scene was the section for the light industrial goods presented by regional industrial establishments.
An official from the Songchon County People’s Committee of South Phyongan Province said that the goods made of chestnut, a local speciality, by the county’s foodstuff factory, which has been built thanks to the Party’s policy for developing regional industry, are in great demand. Other regional-industry factories newly built in 20 cities and counties, including Jaeryong, Hamju and Unchon counties, presented quality consumer goods.
The visitors were also impressed with the booth for the city of Sinpho where various kinds of pickled fishes and processed seafood were on display. Every booth of cities and counties showed that the production growth at regional-industry factories is increasing the potential of local development.
The second floor of the exhibition hall stood out with a dozen kinds of goods produced by the Taedonggang Brewery, and instant rice, instant noodles and various kinds of processed rice and grain chips by the Taedonggang Kumok Instant Rice Factory.
Looking round the exhibition which showcased the products perfect both in appearance and purpose and quality, visitors were filled with pride in and dignity of new civilization and new life.
