Pyongyang is changing according to the capital city construction strategy set forth by the Eighth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Songhwa, Rimhung, Hwasong and Jonwi streets constitute grand architectural groups with different forms of high-rise apartments, skyscrapers and public buildings. Every street representing the future of the state has its own symbolic structure.

Another new street was built and inaugurated in the Hwasong area in April this year.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un guided a lot of blueprints one by one so that the third-stage district was built into a section with another special character in the wake of the first- and second-stage ones.

Under his energetic guidance, theservice amenities chain built on an overpass, the highest one in the country, became the symbolic structure of the new street in the Hwasong area.

Designer Jon Song Yong at the Pyongyang City Designing Institute said he had designed the symbolic structure but it could be a wonderful structure which is environment-friendly in all elements including form, shape and colour and has good formative and artistic value under the meticulous guidance of Kim Jong Un, and continued.

"The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un said it would be peculiar if pillar-shape structures are built on both sides of the road in the section for construction of the 3rd-stage 10,000 flats in the Hwasong area, lifts installed and stairs made in them and then theservice amenities chain built on an overpass formed at the height of 40 metres.

Drawing a design of decoration in person, he ensured that a clock was installed on the arch of the building with service amenities chain to refine the roof decoration of the tower.

When he visited the construction site in March, he appreciated that it looks better on the spot than the one in photo."

On April 3, Kim Jong Un came out to the spot again just before inauguration.

That day, he learned about the preparations for operating several commercial and public catering service bases and he highly appreciated that the service amenities chain built on an overpass has a strong symbolic and peculiar character and that its design and construction were on a high level as desired by the Party. When building a new street, a structure which can clearly symbolize it should be built so that the symbolic structure can come across the minds of the people when thinking of the street, he said.

The symbolic structure in the new street shows well the development of Juche-oriented architecture in good harmony with different kinds of modern service amenities including the Amisan Vehicle Service Centre, the Hwasong Video Game House and the Hwasong Ragwon Steak House as well as dwelling houses.
