Distance learning is gathering momentum across the DPRK.
It has been over a decade since distance learning started in the country. Over the period, the online education system has embraced numerous universities and colleges across the country including Kim Il Sung University.
They have worked to make the teaching contents more practical, comprehensive and modern, and adopted an intellectual teaching approach and enriched the resources, steadily improving online education.
Meanwhile, industrial and agricultural workers in different parts of the country have applied for online courses to prepare themselves to be workers with profound knowledge.
“More than 90 officials and workers of the mill have so far completed online courses, and at least 130 employees are now attending them,” said Ri Hwa Chol, deputy chief engineer at the Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Silk Mill. “Some of them are playing their part in normalizing the production by inventing valuable technical ideas. A worker developed a program for the control board of the automatic reeling machine as suited to the conditions of the factory. This has earned him a certificate of registration of sci-tech achievement.”
An increasing number of officials, scientists and technicians apply for online courses to obtain a wide range of knowledge.
The annual online courses enrolment amounts to several thousand.
