The Third Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea held in June 2021 adopted the childcare policy on supplying nutritious foods including dairy products to children at nurseries and kindergartens across the country at state expense.
Accordingly, the DPRK law on childcare was adopted at the Sixth Session of the 14th Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK in February 2022. It stipulates that the state shall establish a well-knit children’s nutritious food production and supply system, supply all the children with nutritious foods like dairy products on a regular basis for free and provide them with best conditions for their upbringing.
The law was adopted at a time when the sanctions by the hostile forces reached an extreme and the COVID-19 pandemic crisis was sweeping the world, causing unprecedented trials to the country.
Under such circumstances, the WPK and the DPRK government adopted the new law for children and channelled the greatest efforts into implementing it.
The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un personally calculated the number of children at nurseries and kindergartens and their daily milk consumption across the country. He took measures to manufacture powdered milk production equipment, sampled a trial product of powdered milk and earnestly told the producers that they should make every single dairy product with the mindset that they were feeding it to their own children.
Under his deep care, a large number of dairy cow and goat farms were built or renovated across the country and dairy production bases for children built in all cities and counties of the country in the last four years. Now, delicious and hygienically safe dairy foods produced there are supplied to all children throughout the country every day without interruption.
That is why the people say that the dairy foods given to children are not just nutritive elements for their development and growth but the warm love of the Party and the state that devote all sincerity to the children.
